    1.1, Application:

    The conversion catalyst is mainly used for large, medium and small types of fertilizer plant low temperature CO conversion process, low temperature conversion catalyst is mainly suitable for three-catalyst process ammonia synthesis and hydrogen production plant low content CO depth conversion(3 ~ 5% CO to less than 0.1%).


    1.2, Characteristics:

    XYB208 low temperature conversion catalyst produce with high quality electrolytic copper and zinc as raw materials by coprecipitation. This conversion catalyst has less impurity content, uniform and stable composition. XYB208 low temperature conversion catalyst is on the basis of B204 type catalyst, our company and domestic well-known colleges and universities jointly developed a new generation of low water vapor ratio, low CO outlet content. This conversion catalyst uses a new production technology to increase the dispersion of the effective component copper oxide, the surface area of the effective copper is increased, the low temperature activity is better, the stability and the resistance to toxicity is stronger, not easy to thermal aging, high mechanical strength, not easy to powder, long service life and other characteristics. Low temperature conversion catalysis is a catalyst system in which copper oxide is the active body, and zinc oxide and alumina are added at the same time to prevent the growth of copper microcrystals in the catalyst. Copper oxide is reduced into copper microcrystals with fine grains before it is active. The reaction formula is as follows:

    CuO+H2 = Cu+HO2 △H0298 =-12.7KJ/mol

    CuO+CO = Cu+CO2 △H0298 = -85.83KJ/mol

    XYB208 conversion catalyst features:


    1. Good heat resistance and low temperature activity:

    XYB208 conversion catalyst belongs to Cu, Zn series catalyst, of which CuO content is as high as 35~38%, the experiment shows that the conversion catalyst after 5 hours of heat resistance at 450℃, the chemical agent still has a high activity, the CO conversion rate is greater than 65%, and XYB208 conversion catalyst has the characteristics of high low temperature activity and less side reactions.


    2. High mechanical strength:

    XYB208 conversion catalyst adopts unique patented technology in forming, with high mechanical strength, not easy to pulverize, crushing, side pressure strength ≥185N/cm, low strength (less than 100N/cm) < 5%.

  • Use Precautions of XYB208 conversion catalyst:


    ● Because the main active component of the low-temperature conversion catalyst is copper oxide, it is decided that the conversion catalyst should pay attention to the following points to protect the low-temperature activity and extend the service life of the catalyst.

    Low temperature conversion catalyst CO conversion reaction is: CO+H2O=CO2+H2 △H0298=-41.1KJ/mol

    This is a reversible exothermic reaction, from the thermodynamic point of view, the lower the temperature, the more favorable the reaction to the right. From a kinetic point of view, the higher temperature, and have the higher the reaction speed. Therefore, reducing the temperature must be combined with the reaction speed and the performance of the conversion catalyst.


    B208 conversion catalyst uses copper as the main component, the conversion catalyst has good activity and selectivity for carbon monoxide. The conversion catalyst has a higher conversion rate in the lower temperature (180 ~ 260℃) range, but the melting point of copper in the low temperature convesion catalyst is relatively low, the conversion catalyst is very sensitive to temperature. The addition of zinc oxide and alumina in the low temperature conversion catalyst improves the thermal stability of copper microcrystals, but it does not fundamentally change the nature of metal copper "semi-melting". Too high process operating temperature and accidental overtemperature will accelerate its "semi-melting", the performance of the low temperature conversion catalyst is below 250℃. The conversion catalyst due to sintering and activity reduction is not obvious, but when the temperature is higher than 280 ° C, dispersed and fine copper grains are easy to lose activity due to sintering, therefore, the use of low variable conversion catalyst temperature can not exceed 260°C.


    The operation of the inlet temperature range is 180 ~ 230℃. Under the premise of meeting the export carbon monoxide process conditions and ensuring that the steam is not condensing, it should be operated at a lower temperature as far as possible, which is not only conducive to extending the service life of the low-temperature conversion catalyst, but also conducive to the process balance. B208 no need increase the temperature in the early and middle of use.


    The reduction reaction of low temperature conversion catalyst is a strong exothermic reaction. According to theoretical calculations, if 1% of hydrogen is reduced by diluting hydrogen with nitrogen and B208 conversion catalyst in the copper oxide reaction, the rising temperature is about 27℃. The reaction of 1% hydrogen and copper oxide in B208 conversion catalyst by steam dilution hydrogen reduction is about 24℃. When low concentration hydrogen and low temperature reduction is used in the early stage of reduction, it should be noted that the reduction needs a long induction period, do not rush to increase the temperature and increase the hydrogen concentration because there is no immediate temperature rise or hydrogen consumption, resulting in overtemperature and damage to the catalyst. The temperature will quickly reach more than 600°C in a few minutes due to the intense exothermic reaction and burn the conversion catalyst.


    Because the copper oxide and zinc oxide in the conversion catalyst have a high chemical activity to sulfide and chloride, which makes the catalyst is also very sensitive to sulfur and chlorine compounds, easy to suffer from their toxicity. Copper, zinc and aluminum oxide at about 200℃ will sublimate, can penetrate the whole conversion catalyst bed, is the most serious poison. The upper catalyst can not protect the lower catalyst, copper sulfide will not volatilize. When hydrogen sulfide or organic sulfide into the low variable furnace, copper and zinc sulfide reaction is divided into two steps: The first step is the surface of the catalyst to generate a sulfide covering layer, the reaction speed is very fast, but this reaction step is only close to the single molecular layer, even a small amount of sulfide can poison a large number of conversion catalysts; The second step is the diffusion of copper sulfide or zinc oxide atoms through the solid phase, from the surface to the inward transfer, while the oxygen atoms in the bulk phase to the direction of the outer surface transfer, this process is very slow. Sulfur is mainly from the raw material gas, air or several conversion catalysts in the previous process, and chlorine is mainly from steam or some lubricating oil. Therefore, the sulfur content in the raw gas should be lower than 0.1 ~ 0.5ppm, otherwise, when the sulfur absorption of the catalyst reaches 0.25% or the chlorine content reaches 0.03 ~ 0.05%, the activity of the conversion catalyst will be reduced by half. In order to ensure the reasonable service life of the catalyst, special attention should be paid to and the toxic effect of sulfide and chloride should be prevented.


    We should strictly prevent the condensation of water vapor on the conversion catalyst. The condensation and evaporation of water on the conversion catalyst will affect the physical strength of the catalyst. And the condensed water will form ammonia water with 100 ~ 700ppm ammonia produced in the reaction, and the ammonia solution will have some dissolution effect on the active copper, which will cause a serious loss of the active surface area and lead to a significant shortening of the conversion catalyst life.
